Italian Tilt is a novel that goes beyond exploring how Donald, the main character, finds romance and discovers a new culture while on a trip to Italy. It also deals with the nature of personal growth, the nature of friendship, as well as family conflict and reconciliation.
In Italian Tilt, another fabulous story by my favorite author, Carlos Rubio, our protagonist Donald learns that there’s more to life than the ordered spreadsheets he lives with as an accountant. His friend Dexter has invited him to spend two weeks in Italy and after some chiding and persuasion, Donald has agreed. Once in Italy, Donald quickly discovers the warmth and friendliness of the Italian people and he begins to relax. Over the next two weeks, Donald discovers a life he never knew, or even dreamed existed. He finds friendship, he finds love, and he even finds his way back to his brother, from whom he has been estranged for years. I loved this story and in places even had tears in my eyes. Once again, Carlos does not disappoint – no matter what he writes, it’s guaranteed you will get so caught up in the story that you forget all about time.
I loved how this book is realistic, and has some good reminders or lessons included… Not take life too seriously …. spend time doing things that bring joy… and most importantly , how important family is to us! I also felt as if I was tagging along hearing about the sights & culture in Italy. Very enjoyable book!
