Diane Lane Chambers has enjoyed a career as a professional sign language interpreter for over 45 years. Her focus for the last 20 years has been interpreting in the medical and behavioral health arenas.
Active in the National League of American Pen Women, she has served as the Denver Branch vice president and president. In her free time she follows legislation and advocates for reform of our nation’s privacy laws and involuntary commitment statues to remove barriers to treatment for persons with serious mental illness.
Diane is the author of two other nonfiction books: Words in My Hands: A Teacher, A Deaf-Blind Man, An Unforgettable Journey and Hearing the Stream: A Survivor’s Journey into the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer. She is the producer and narrator of a DVD about Support Service Providers for persons with hearing and vision loss titled, SSPs: What Are They and Why Are They Necessary? She lives in Colorado.
